Part 32

Labour Day dawned bright and clear, and with everything in order in the house, we took the day to just enjoy ourselves in our own hedonistic way.  Lounging about, making love, indulging in our favourite foods and beverages, and best of all just being together.  We revelled in a day that was solely ours and we savoured each and every moment of it.  For soon enough we’d be getting back to the routine of everyday life.  Lorelei would be back to work and I would be back to teaching classes fulltime.  The sunny days of summer would retreat slowly and be replaced with the shadowy oncoming of fall days.  Leaves would turn vibrant shades of red, gold and orange before turning brown and wafting silently to the ground.  Nights would turn crisp, and there would be that unmistakable scent in the air that could only be associated with autumn.

I looked forward to autumn and had visions of how my life would be different this one than it had in the past. Having Lorelei to come home to and Barclay who would keep the home fires burning while we were gone, just made everything better.  I knew there would be walks in the woods, leaves crunching under our feet, cozy meals which we’d prepare together with favourite comfort foods which would nurture both the body and spirit.  Nights spent together sipping her homemade herbal teas or hot apple cider in front of the hearth.  Maybe I was trying to idealize things but I didn’t think so. I was enough of a realist to know that the day to day grind would take place as well. I’d have to make lesson plans grade papers and more than likely get roped into helping organize extracurricular projects at school like school plays for example. Lorelei would be busy gearing up for the holiday seasons at work.  She’d begin her volunteer work again.  I knew we’d be busy but I also knew it wouldn’t diminish anything the two of us had together.  It would only bring us closer together and make us appreciate the time we did spend together even more.

I was also bound and determined to plan and execute the perfect proposal.  The more I thought about it I also was more and more convinced I should just go for broke and do the wedding as well. I figured why not, after all neither of us wanted a long engagement so I might as well take matters into my own hands and fast track things. This would be my great coup ever if I could manage to pull it off as a total surprise to Lorelei.  Being a realist and never having planned either a proposal or a wedding I might need to be aided and abetted by a couple of people. I figured I’d line up my co-conspirators and they’d include my sister Molly, who might roll her eyes on some of the decisions I’d make but would totally support me all the same.  Matt and Skye I felt would be on board as well and be right in their element helping plan and ultimately executing the menu for the reception.  I’d get the Morelli’s to create an amazingly over the top wedding cake that would rival anything in Lor’s wildest dreams.  My brother and a couple of my buddies would round out the team by supplying any of the muscle I’d require.

I was busy formulating my master plan in my head, and didn’t realize how wrapped up I’d gotten in my planning until I heard her voice breaking the still calm.  “Are you okay sweetheart?”  “Oh I’m great, just thinking.  Lesson plans, full days at work, how I’m looking forward to life with you.” And I leaned in and kissed her. It was sweet, gentle, unrushed and as always a perfect kiss.It was clear to see from the smile on her face that I’d given her an answer that she could totally live with, as her face flushed and she radiated genuine beatified warmth.  “I still can’t believe this at times.” She said as she caressed the sparkling band on her ring finger. “You looking to upgrade that to an engagement ring my dear lady?” I probed her gently with the question.  She smiled.  “It’s not the ring that matters to me Liam, and I would happily keep this one and just change the name of it from a promise ring to an engagement ring if that’s what you decided.  I’ve spent a life time looking for the piece of the puzzle that completes me, with my ragged, obscurely cut edges and I found that in you, so you are all that I want to make my life complete.” She told me with gentle sincerity the way that only she could.

“I also have a sense that in some ways you are quite traditional and that you want to be the one that does the proposing but you aren’t so traditional that you’d ask me to obey you either in our marriage vows. Am I correct?” she questioned me. Stroking my chin before replying, I tried to appear as though I were giving the matter very serious and grave thought. “Yes I do want to be the one that does the asking as you put it.  Just seems like the right thing to do.” I began.  She cut me off with a “and we both know you always to the right thing or make every possible effort to.” I raised my finger to her lips to silence any further conversation on her part for the moment.  “But your dead wrong about the not wanting you to obey me part.”  She looked genuinely shocked at this pronouncement.  “Mind you” I added hastily “that’s only in the bedroom during role play.”  My little joke earned me an “Oh honestly you are such a turkey at times.” Delivered in as huffy and indignant tone of voice as one could muster when one was trying very hard not to laugh hysterically, which of course caused me to do my impersonation of a turkey, complete with gobbling and head bobs.  This cracked her up totally and she lay panting for breath as she was finally able to stop laughing.

“I had you going for a second there didn’t I?” I teased her.  “Yes you did but I was going to give you a chance to explain before I considered knocking some sense into you.” She teased me back and gave me an elbow to emphasize her point. “Seriously though I never want you to promise to obey me, because for starters it’s archaic and secondly we both know you couldn’t because you have your own mind about things, and thirdly I’d never want you to.”  I told her.  “Well we’re agreed on that then.” She said as she smiled and leaned in for a kiss. As we sat snuggled together and we’d already sort of broached the topic I felt it was a good time to test the waters and find out what she really did want or expect out of the wedding itself.  “You know” I said trying to make it sound as casual as I possibly  could manage to “maybe we should start talking about the future more starting with the wedding.  I actually loved some of those ideas your Mom was ranting on about that weekend we spent at your parents.  Do any of those ideas you had growing up still fit into your ideal wedding now?” “As crazy as it may sound, all of them still do on one level or another.

For starters you know how much I love the beach and being near or on the water, so to me that would be the ideal setting, and the time of year really wouldn’t phase me at all.  If the waters were calm and serene that would be fine with me. Yet if the wind was blowing and the waves were choppy I’d see the beauty and feel the raw passion of nature in the element.” She told me. “That actually makes sense to me and neither of us are the sorts to want to be confined in the four walls of a church.  We need our space and to be in touch with something that has meaning and significance to us on such a momentous occasion.”  The more I thought about it and the more we talked I discovered she’d had some pretty sound reasoning to her choices even when she’d been a kid. “So tell me more.” I encouraged her.  “Well I’ve always loved autumn and Halloween especially. Halloween was always special to me and I’d eagerly start planning my costume and even my pranks months in advance in preparation of it.  It was the ultimate day to play dress up and make your wildest dreams come true.  There’s just such magic and energy associated with it and besides its fun.” She added animatedly and giggled.

“I couldn’t agree with you more, and I’ve always had a rather soft spot for Halloween myself.  I still decorate the house for it and usually go over the top doing it.  I’ll get into some crazy get up myself and after the trick or treaters have come and gone I’ll either head down to the village for the street party or off to some other venue with my buddies to have a good laugh and celebrate.” I agree with her finding myself really getting caught up in the whole conversation. “It’s not just the fun of it all, but as we all know I do love to have fun.” And she giggled over such an obvious statement.  “But ask yourself how many times have you gone to a wedding and been really uncomfortable in your suit and tie?  Or your dress shoes pinch your feet because you seldom wear them?  Or you felt obligated to go buy a new suit to wear, even though you knew you’d seldom wear it again and it cost you far more than you really wanted to spend for a few hours?  Now let’s move on to your date for said wedding, as it’s not a piece of cake for women either at these things.  A new dress for the occasion so you don’t clash with the colour scheme of the bridal party, heels that give you blisters and you end up kicking off at the reception as soon as you can so that you can dance properly, and besides they cover up the pedicure you just got with that really cool shade of nail polish on them.  Oh and make up having to be flawless and heaven forbid your mascara run if you get emotional and cry.” She finished up with an almost vehemence to her voice.

“You know you’re so right about all of that.  I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve wanted to just get comfortable and relax and enjoy the event and just ended up suffering through it like everyone else.  We were all in the same boat but we all go through this let’s dress up to the nines and look stiff as boards and be all proper about the formality of it all.”  The method to her madness was really beginning to dawn on me with amazing clarity.  “What the focus should be on is having fun and celebrating the event and what better way to do that then with love, laughter and doses of silliness wrapped up in being comfortable.”  I was really getting on board with her ideas more and more all the time. “This is part of why I love you so much Liam, you are such a quick study.” She said as she pulled me in and kissed me deeply with a great deal of tongue action that caused a stirring in my nether regions.  This was only accented by the way her hand and found its way into my lap and was caressing and kneading my family jewels through the crotch of my jeans.

“Whoa there missy, you just focus on the topic at hand here.” I told her sternly.  Sensing that I was going into teacher mode on her she responded.  “But sir, I was doing just that, focusing on the topic with my hand.” She responded with a look that was trying to appear as innocent as a lamb but came off more like a total imp.  “Your naughty and I’m going to have to make you stay after class young lady.”  “Promise?” she responded swiftly and eagerly. “You can count on it.” I returned and rubbed her nose against mine in an Eskimo kiss. “Now where were we?” she asked if only to refresh her own memory.  “Oh yes wedding planning and you really have to stop distracting me like that Liam.” She teased before plunging back into the topic with zeal.  “I want people to be comfortable and be able to have fun and if they get to live out some secret fantasy of theirs by being a superhero or whatever they choose, to me that’s a bonus.  Besides people will be talking about it and remembering our wedding long after the fact thinking, man was that ever a great celebration.  If you think about how many weddings you’ve attended over the years how many of them just sort of meld together into one big composite wedding?

They all pretty much end up being cookie cutter copies of each other with the exception of the colour scheme.  I don’t want people looking back years later going “oh yeah same old same old that was, chicken or beef, wretched wine on the tables for the toasts, the speeches went on way too long and the music was pretty standard.”  If I’m going to do this I want it done right, and I want it done my way.” At which point she started belting out the old Frank Sinatra classic in a falsetto voice.  It left me slapping my knee with one hand and laughing in delight, as I pulled her tighter with my other arm and told her, “You are a total nut, don’t ever change.” And I couldn’t help myself I just had to kiss her that crazy woman of mine. My speed course in wedding planning 101 was coming along brilliantly and I was gaining so much insight into what it was going to take for me to make this her ideal wedding.  This wedding was going to be so such a blast when I was done with it. “So what about the Goth element you’re Mom mentioned?”  I inquired.  “Oh” she said waving her hand breezily “I just always found the whole Gothic/Victorian clothing thing to be romantic and eloquent.  Not to mention having the ceremony lit with flickering candles.  I guess there is a side of me that is truly a girly girl at heart.” She giggled.

“Yep it is a wedding and about celebrating love so a touch of romance and class makes total sense to me.”  I really felt like she had a firm handle on what a lot of people would find the ultimate experience and just allow them to let their hair down and have a wickedly good time doing it. “What about the hippy dippy free love aspect?”  I asked trying to sound genuinely interested which I in fact was but at the same time not seem like I was plotting something.“Is there a reason for your sudden interest in wedding planning?  Thinking of taking up a new career?” she teased me softly.  For a split second my heart leapt into my throat and I thought for sure I was busted.  “Nope, no plans for a new career other than future husband.” I protested.  “Besides I just want to know what your thoughts are and you know I don’t want to drag things out for years.  So I figure if we start talking about it and begin to work things out its half the battle.”  She mulled it over quickly. “Okay I’ll buy that for a buck.” She quipped back at me. “So what about the hippy dippy free love thing?” I prodded her gently.

She shrugged slightly.  “Guess that has to do with the fact I’ve got a definite free spirited wild child outlook on life and when you couple that with my love of music and nature it just seems to work for me.  I’m a lover not a fighter at heart.” She summed up.  “Hmmmmmmmmm and what a fantastic lover you are.” I concurred as I broke into a grin and pulled her into my lap for some serious kissing and caressing.  She offered no resistance what so ever and a very pleasant shared tenderness between us ensued as a result.

Our clothes were askew and our hair was disheveled when we broke apart but neither of us seemed to mind one little iota. The more we shared ourselves with each other the closer we drew together uniting in our shared joy of life. I let out a small sigh.  “Everything, okay?” Liam questioned me quietly.  “Things are better than okay.” I assured him. “It’s just I wish times like this with you never had to end is all.” I said wistfully.  “I know, I know. I feel the same way” he affirmed as he cuddled me close and he rained kisses on my cheek like early morning drops of dew.  I imagined they gave a soft lustrous sparkle to my face just as dew on a lawn would glimmer as the early morning rays of sun shone on it. It was time for a wee dose of reality now as we untangled ourselves.  There was a ravenous little cat to be tended to, dinner to be made, lunches to be packed for the morning, as well as ensuring we both had everything ready to go for work the next morning.  We continued talking about the wedding and what we both thought would be perfect for us.

Liam was increasingly warming to the topic which didn’t really faze me all, as to me it was just as much his day as it was mine.  I laughed when he told me that I was so not bridezilla material like so many of his friends had horror stories about.  He recanted a couple tales to me, which left me in stitches but empathizing heavily with the poor bridegrooms in question.  I never could understand women that didn’t want their partners input. Nor could I fathom how some women became such control freaks, not to mention drama queens over weddings.  When we were nearly finished in the kitchen I’d shooed Liam off, telling him to get go ahead and get started on the last minute things he needed to do before his first day back at school.  I wanted to sneak a little something extra into his lunch bag in honour of the start of a new school year as a surprise for him. We laughed and reminisced about getting ready for the first day of school when we were kids.  Heading back to class with book bags filled with pencils with no teeth marks in them, freshly sharpened pencil crayons, and a box of fresh unbroken Crayola crayons in a rainbow of colours, binders containing freshly lined sheets of paper. In those days you’d even find a peanut butter and jam sandwich in your lunch bag unlike now where everything had gone nut free in schools.

As our day wound down to a close, we turned off lights and headed off to bed.  It wasn’t really sleep that was on our minds though as we slipped between the crisp cotton sheets.  There so no longer any pretense about wearing pyjamas to bed, nor would there be unless perhaps we had overnight guests in the future such as nieces and nephews that might make impromptu late night visits to our room if they needed something. The exploration of each other was still a thrill and we savoured the sensations of skimming over one another’s bodies with featherlike strokes of finger tips. Lips would trail kisses over hills and valleys of flesh.  Tongues that trailed warm moist routes over bodies until they discovered treasures that were thoroughly explored.  The exploration causing ripples of delight to wash over both the discovered and the discoverer.  There was the unmistakable scent of arousal permeating the air with its luscious lingering essence. Soft moans, pounding hearts, rapid breath and whispered words provided the naturally sweet song that only lovers are privy too.

Two very happy souls would drift off to sleep in the aftermath of it all.  Secure in our knowledge that that were indeed loved.  Never a furrowed brow creased our faces only dreamy smiles graced them as we wended our way into the land of sleep, nestled in one another’s embrace. Mornings always seemed to dawn way too early for either of our likings. I felt confident that we both harboured some pretty sinister thoughts towards the alarm clock at that hour of the day. The saving grace of the situation was waking up to each other and that tempered and conquered any reluctance on our part to awaken and start our day in earnest. Loving nuzzles, eased our transition into the waking world. Caring for Barclay, enjoying a hurried breakfast, some shower time play and hurriedly dressing rounded out the first couple of hours of the day.  It was a happy couple indeed that headed off the steps together hand in hand and made their way to the bus stop.

With the start of the school year public transportation was packed to the rafters and it was standing room only on the bus this morning.  Liam and I were crushed together in the throng of bodies but we hardly considered that to be a hardship. In fact I think we both considered it a bonus.  At the subway station we exchanged hurried kisses before each rushing off to our respective destinations. I had to grin as I looked over my shoulder and saw him rooting through his back pack looking for his tie.  As a faculty member he had to set an example for his students and uphold the dress code, even if he felt like he has his neck in a noose.  I somehow knew he’d been happier in the summer school sessions where the dress code was relaxed, but for next few months he’d have to stoically suffer through this wardrobe requirement.

During the first day assembly to welcome back students and introduce the faculty to them my mind strayed to the multitude of things I had to accomplish to pull off a proposal and wedding in rapid succession.  I knew the type of ring I planned on getting for her and I knew the perfect place to find it. It meant a clandestine trip to The Claddagh House.  It was easy to picture the perfect ring in my mind’s eye.  The perfect ring for her would one that was two pieces but would fit together to unite as one just as we had.  A plain white gold band with a heart shaped diamond to set it off.  The second piece I’d use as her wedding band and it would slip over the first band to unify and make a complete claddagh ring. I’d have three little emeralds set in the crown portion of the ring. It would be perfect for her and I knew she’d love it and treasure it always.

My mind snapped back to the present when I heard my name called and I stood and acknowledged the student body.  After the assembly ended the day passed quickly for me.  Shepherding first year students to their classrooms, filling in seating plans until I got to know all my students by name, handing out textbooks and course outlines for the semester.  My lunch break left me grinning ear to ear as I found a note from the woman I was wild about tucked inside my lunch.  It was so like her to let me know she cared and was thinking about me even when we were apart. I also appreciated the special care she’d taken in what she’d chosen to pack for me and the brownies were a welcome treat as well. Since it was the first day I had nothing pressing to keep me at school any longer than necessary, and checking my watch I calculated how much time I had before popping around to the bakery to meet Lorelei.

I’d texted Molly on my lunch break and she’d agreed to meet me at a local coffee as she’d arranged for the kids to head over to their grandparents after school, so we’d be uninterrupted.  I was raring to go with this wedding planning and I needed to get people on board as quickly as possible to help me pull this whole thing off. “Let me get this straight” said Molly after I had explained my plans to her.  “You are going to organize a beach wedding in October on Halloween after proposing only hours earlier and you want it to remain a surprise?  Are you delirious or merely tripping big brother?” She questioned me looking at me like I had truly lost it this time.  “No, no I’m fine.” I assured her though I couldn’t help but laugh at her assessment of my current mental state.  “Look neither of us has wanted to have a long engagement nor do we want to wait to get married for ever.  So I figured why not, just do it?”  I explained.  She rolled her eyes at me “Life is not a Nike commercial you know Liam.” She chided me.

I hurriedly explained our visit with her parents and our subsequent discussions on the subject of the perfect wedding, as I knew my time was limited before I had to leave.  Her face softened when she realized I was completely and totally serious about this.  “It it’s really want you two want and it will make you happy then you can count on me to help you pull this off. I still however think you are nuts and I’m beginning to suspect she’s as crazy as you are.” She said looking me dead in the eyes.  “She is which is part of why she’s perfect for me and thanks kiddo.” I added as I got up to leave.  She hopped up and gave me a bear hug and made me promise to let her know eas soon as I had more things planned and that she could start implementing for me.  I was elated as I met Lorelei knowing that I had the ball rolling and I was in fact going to pull things off.  She sensed my euphoria and joined in it, though not entirely sure what was behind it other than we were back together again hand in hand.

Every spare moment I had without her that I wasn’t working became devoted to executing my master plan.  Sean could expedite any necessary permits I’d require for the wedding on the beach was enlisted to my team as well.  He shared Molly’s initial sentiments that I had finally totally flipped out, but when he realized I was for in fact dead serious about this he willingly and whole heartedly agreed to pitch in.  My family were pretty cool about most things and it was nice to know they cared enough about me to make sure I’d have no regrets about my actions. Skye and Matt took the news totally in stride as it would seem they were used to such wacky things being friends with Lorelei for so many years.  They were thrilled to be asked to participate and I left the menu planning in their more than capable hands after explaining themes.   I was totally sailing along with this whole thing and it was building as it went. I had even figured out the way I’d present the whole idea to Lorelei so that she was actually helping plan things but was also totally oblivious to the real purpose.

“So how would you feel about having a blowout bash for Halloween this year?” I asked her as we were washing dinner dishes together.  “I’d love it.” She responded without batting an eye.  “It could be our house warming party as a well.  It would be a perfect time for a celebration. I’ve always loved Halloween and this will be so much fun.” She enthused. “Awesome” I responded.  She began to list things we’d have to do.  “We’ll need a list of who to invite and we’ll have to send out invitations, and I’ll have to plan a menu and of course we’ll have to decorate and….” I wrapped my dish towel around her waist and pulled her tightly into my arms and kissed her deeply.  “And, and, and.”  I teased her.  “I give you my word this will be the best party we’ve ever throw.” She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me down so she could kiss me back. “The best ever.” She echoed between kisses. With Lorelei knowing that something was being planned was making my life so much easier and taking a lot of pressure off me and the rest of my band of merry men.  The hardest part was ensuring that everyone remembered the word wedding was strictly forbidden to be used in her presence.

I was pretty dead chuffed with myself. Who else could have managed to pull something of this magnitude off, enlist the help of the guest of honour and still manage to keep it all under wraps and a secret?

Part 31

Lorelei had asked me to give her a few minutes to get ready before I joined her in the bathroom.  So I stripped down in the bedroom and tossed my clothes into the clothes hamper before I joined her.  A soak in a hot tub was going to be a pleasure.  I kind of hated admitting it, but all those trips up and down those flights of stairs had taken a bit of a toll on me.  It hadn’t been so bad as long as I’d kept moving but once I sat down to relax for a while that had been my downfall. Now that dull ache from muscles that had been pushed a little more than usual kicked in and I was thinking how great it was going to be to sink below the depths of the hot water and let it work its soothing magic on them. As I stood in the doorway I could see the steam rising over the water, in a misty haze in the candle lit room.  The music I’d put on earlier was audible in the background and complimented the mellowed out atmosphere she orchestrated for me.  The porcelain pool she’d created for me was inviting and I was looking forward to sinking into its watery depths.

Her knees were drawn up under her as she sat beside the tub her hand languidly stirring in the contents she’d just emptied into it.  A pleasant fragrance greeted my nostrils and I inhaled deeply.  “You’d better be careful I’ll end up smelling good enough to eat when I’m done soaking.” I said softly. At the sound of my voice she turned her head and smiled at my naked form as I lounged against the door frame.  It felt perfectly natural for me to be nude in front of her, and I no longer had any doubts or insecurities that she’d burst into laughter or worse point and laugh uncontrollably at the same time when she saw me appearing to her in all my glory. “Silly man” she said as she rose slowly and came towards me.  Wrapping her arms around my neck and drawing me down as she pressed against me, moulding her breasts to my torso. “I could feast on you for hours.”  She nibbled delicately on my ear lobe to illustrate her point as her one hand massaged the back of my neck and the other snaked its way down my chest.  Her hand crept ever lower until she cupped my manhood in it and began to knead and massage it.  A low groan escaped my lips as she did, and my flesh broke out in goose bumps as a result.  The stimulation of her heated breath on my neck, coupled with her kisses and ardent caresses was just about more than I could bear.

Fully aroused, I would have had no issue what so ever with consummating our love there and then.  She however was the mistress of erotic performance art and loved to bring me to the edge time and time again before sealing the deal.  I knew in my heart she did it for me to prolong my pleasure, allowing it to build in me time and time again, so that when it did take me it would be the ultimate experience. She always made me a priority no matter what we were doing, and I in turn tried to do the same for her.“I can’t wait to have you devour me.” I growled into her ear as I crushed my body against hers and began to grind my groin against her hand which was responsible for the light sheen of fluids I was already releasing.  Our kisses were ardent and the desire was undeniable.  Our tongues danced together like flames licking into the darkness and illuminating it.  Body and minds were on fire, fueled with need and desire.

When we broke apart to come up for some much needed air, we both inhaled sharply and deeply as we’d been so focused on the heated chemistry between us that even taking oxygen into our lungs was irrelevant and had ceased to matter to us.  Literally and figuratively this woman took my breath away, time and time again. Taking my hand she led me toward the bath that had been prepared for me and I stepped in, gingerly at first as I tested the temperature of the water.  I should have known it would be perfect just as everything she did for me was.  I eased myself down into the welcoming womb like warmth of the water and stretched until I was in a comfortable position. I seldom took baths being more of a shower kind of a guy but I was finding this to be a rather relaxing experience.  After making sure I was settled in and comfortable, she said.  “I’ll be right back, don’t’ move.” And with that she was gone.  I sat luxuriating in the warm scented water that enveloped me, my head back eyes closed feeling very serene.

She’d stolen in as silently as a little mouse, yet I didn’t need to open my eyes to know she was there, I could just somehow sense her presence and it brought a smile to my lips.I opened my eyes and found her at eye level with me once more.  She held out a glass of a rich red wine to me, and I took the proffered glass from her.  “I’d like to offer a toast to the gentleman of the house, if I may.”  She said as she raised her glass to mine. “Liam you are the love of my life, today, tomorrow for the rest of my life.” And with that she tapped her glass against mine as they clinked merrily in the stillness of the room. I couldn’t help but smile at her toast as I took my first sip.  It was in fact as I had thought it to be. A very pleasant Shiraz which lingered on the tongue almost as sweetly as one of her kisses did upon my lips. She set her glass down on the vanity in the bathroom and took a seat on the edge of the bathtub.  With deft hands she began to massage the back of my neck and my shoulders.  Slowly I stretched and rotated my neck as she eased the kinks out for me.  I sighed contentedly in a blissful state at the pampering she was giving me.

Leaning into me her clothed breast grazed against my cheek and sent a special little thrill throughout my body. The scent of her shampoo still clung to her hair and it mingled in the air with the scented waters I was soaking in.  As nurturing as she was being, there was still an underlying sensuality to it. When she dampened the wash cloth and applied the shower gel to it and began to lather my body, she was delicate, almost reverent in her caresses with it.  Circular motions on my chest matted my chest hair together with a sudsy froth.  Long strokes along my arm and legs felt heavily as the soapy cloth glided over my flesh, cleansing away the stresses of the day. Her hand with cloth in hand sank beneath the watery abyss and stroked and caressed my manly parts as well.  It was arousing to have her bathing me this intimately and my hips rose to greet the gyrations of her hand on me.   She was taking slow long strokes of my ever lengthening member, and naturally I rotated my hips and would thrust forward to greet her downwards strokes.  We moved in unison in our own little synchronized water ballet.      The feelings within were building and soapsuds be damned I wanted her, I needed her. I grabbed her and drew her to me and kissed her deeply, exploring her mouth with my tongue, with an urgent neediness.

“I’ve gotten you all wet.” He said with mock horror in his voice at this discovery.  “So you have, what ever shall we do about that fact?”  I queried.  “Maybe you should get out of those wet clothes of yours and join me.” He volleyed back with a sensual smile that could not be ignored or turned down. I peeled off the shirt I’d had on, as it was sopping wet now and hugged every curve of my body.  I dropped it unceremoniously on the tiled floor.  Liam caught one of my nipples, in his mouth as my breasts dangled over him briefly as I stood to take off my jeans and panties.  It was only a fleeting suckle at my breast but it put my senses on high alert and my nipples protruded, plump and swollen like luscious red raspberries after the brief encounter. His eyes were riveted on me as I slipped out of my jeans and kicked them aside.  Feeling a little naughty as well as very aware of my sexuality I ran my hands over my breasts and down my tummy and over the sheer fabric mound between my thighs that was as wet as my t shirt had been but for an entirely different reason.  I hooked my thumbs under the elastic waistband of them and inched them down over my thighs, past my knees and then let them fall naturally the rest of the way.

Liam held his hands out to me and I took them in mine as I stepped carefully over the edge of the tub and sank down into the water.   Space was limited with both of us now in the tub and a wave of water spilled over the edge as I sank down into the water.  After some skillful maneuvering what we found worked best was for me to sit between Liam’s legs with his long legs draped over mine. He wrapped his strong arms around me, and began to kiss and nibble on my throat and earlobes.  Early in our relationship he’d learned this was but one method to unlock any inhibitions I might otherwise have. His hands strayed to my breasts and he cupped them as if weighing them in his hands.  Tweaking my nipples between his thumb and index finger produced the effect he had been going for when I moaned and arched my back against him, my breathing becoming more laboured and intense.  As one hand fondled my breasts the other trailed down my tummy and prodded gently at the apex of my legs.

They parted readily of their own accord and he stroked his finger tip lightly up and down the slit that was wet both externally and internally.  He continued to tease me like this with slow even strokes, and I would arch my hips forward, willing him to explore my depths further. It was a sweet release when he finally parted my folds and began to stroke deeper, delving my depths with his fingers and discovering my hot little pink, throbbing pearl nestled within.  Alternating between quick tight little circles around it and slow gentle massages over it was driving me insane with need for him to be inside me.  My thighs tightened around his hand trying to squeeze it and draw it deeper into me.  Another finger began to toy with my love canal and explore its snug warm depths.  His large hand cupped my mound as his fingers worked their magic within.     Pressing against him and mewling with delight and frustration I more than willing to beg if that was he required from me.  His kisses had taken on even more heated urgency as he kissed and nibbled on my throat and shoulders.  Liam was lost in it and I wasn’t going to be the least bit surprised if I ended up with his brand on my throat,  The playfulness and the intensity of the passion we were giving and receiving from each other would be worth any inconvenience caused by having to shield it from other peoples prying eyes after the fact.  For now the two of us lived in the moment which was intense, carnal with a feral abandonment for society and its conventions.

Wriggling my bottom against his groin I could feel his engorged member rubbing against the channel between the mounds of my buttocks.  Knowing how inflamed with desire his love muscle was swollen only served to spur me on with my actions. Not being able to stand it any further I scrambled onto my knees, and braced my hands against the wall.  “Baby, please.”  I begged him repetitively as I looked over my shoulder at him.  With no regard to the logistics of the situation or to any discomfort it might cause him, he sprang into action.  It was unnecessary to sway my hips and nether regions at him but I couldn’t resist the urge to do so. Overtaken by my animalistic urges to merge with my mate in a primal coupling was all that mattered, so I presented myself to him.   He massaged my cheeks before parting them with his large strong hands and entering me with a loud grunt of satisfaction as he buried himself in me, feeling every inch of his member filling me, intensely aware of each ridge and swollen vein as he slid in and out of me.  Clenching my muscles around him wanting it as tight as possible for his pleasure, bucking back to meet each and every one of his deep thrusts, as his hands held onto me firmly at my waist as he dove into me time and time again.  Our cries of triumphant ecstasy reverberated off the walls of the bathroom, in our own song of passion which was sweet music to our ears.

No matter where or how we made love we always threw ourselves into it heart, body and soul.  The chemistry between us was undeniable and each and every time it became more intense as we grew together as a couple.  Any other sexual experiences in my past paled in comparison to what I had with my Lorelei. I knew it was the deeply founded love that we shared that made the difference.  We were best friends, first and foremost who wanted to share all that life had to offer the two of us.  Our relationship was solidly built on a foundation of honesty, trust and mutual respect, all building blocks that were required to have our love last a lifetime and beyond. It was such an all-encompassing rush of adrenaline as we moved together in unison. I could feel that well spring go from a slow simmer to a rapid, rolling boil in my loins and I knew I’d soon be emptying every ounce of it into her precious vessel.  I knew her own climax was emanating from deep within her and was ready to burst to the surface and wash over her.

A final deep thrust and I unleashed myself into her womb. I wrapped my arms around her and drew her upwards.  My chest pressing against the contours of her back as she in turn pushed back into me.  I held her tightly as we reached this grand crescendo together.  Her body shook as she pressed her lips against any available inch of my flesh that she could and kissed me in a feverish manner. I stayed inside her the entire time with the occasional small thrust as we rode out the spasms that raceked our bodies. Finally I was able to gain enough composure to stand fully, and I drew her up with me, still nestled in my arms.  I rained soft gentle kisses over her whispering affirmations of my love for her as I did so.  Her soft gentle voice echoed my sentiments in return. She turned to face me and buried her head against my chest.  I cradled her to me and rocked her in my embrace. “You’ve still got soap in your chest hair.” She teased me as she twirled the damp strands around her fingers.  “You seem to have some yourself.” I countered as I brushed back her damp locks with my fingers to better view her beautiful face with those eyes that shone with such a luminous glow.

After pulling the stopper in the tub and a quick shower the situation was righted and we were both clean and fresh as daisies after our wet and wild adventure. As we dried off we both seemed to realize just what a long day we’d had and how tired we truly were. We ambled into the bed room and stretched out comfortably on the top of the bed. Liam was on his back and I was on my side curled into his form with my head resting on his chest.  We talked in muted tones about everything that had unfolded and been accomplished that day, and eventually so overcome by exhaustion we drifted off to sleep together in midsentence. Summer days were slowly drawing to a close and when we awoke from our slumber the room was cool and dark.  It took a few minutes for our eyes to become accustomed to the shadowed room and two glowing little eyes greeted ours when we glanced over at the alarm clock on the nightstand to try to determine the time and how long we’d slept. “It’s half seven I can’t believe we were out that long.” Liam said in a voice still drenched with sleep which gave his voice a husky air to it.

Barclay took that as his cue that we were in fact alive and that now he could start his campaign to finally get his dinner served to him.  The persistent meowing and rubbing against the two of us and butting at us with his head commenced in earnest as he joined us on the bed and made his demands known.  He only allowed himself to be temporarily placated with cuddles and pets and soon we were dragging ourselves out of our cozy bed to take care of the needs of our small four footed fur child. We each grabbed a bathrobe and trudged off to the kitchen with our furry entourage and got him his longed for dinner.  We then ambled into the living room and flaked out, side by side on the sofa.  With one arm around her I drew her close to my side, with the other hand I picked up her small delicate one in my massive one.  “Well roomie, we did it.  You’re completely moved in now.  So how does it feel?” I asked her as I surveyed the various boxes and pieces of furniture that still needed to be put into place and unpacked.

“It’s great but a bit over whelming, there’s still so much to do.” She said with a small sigh.  “It’s okay we’ll manage it together, sweetheart.” And I massaged her shoulder with one hand, while squeezing the one I held in mine reassuringly. “I know.” she said as she raised her hand and softly caressed my stubble covered face and kissed me lightly. “I’m just too pooped to put anything more away tonight.” She added.  “Ditto on that for me, and before you ask yes I am hungry and no you are not going to go into the kitchen an whip us up a little something. We’ll order in have another glass of wine from that bottle you opened earlier and just chill out.  Understood?” I told her with a mock sternness in my voice.  I knew if I didn’t put my foot down with her she’d be out there cooking up a storm and then start trying to get everything organized so the house was comfy and cozy and not looking like a bomb had just gone off in it.  She was neurotic about some things but I loved her not in spite of it but because it was part of whom she was as a person.  Making a comfortable home and keeping it tidy was important to her but for one night I’d insist she let it go.

“Message received loud and clear Liam.” She said as she snuggled into me.  “So what are you in the mood for Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Italian or Ethiopian perhaps?” She inquired.  “I’m really not fussed just as long as I get fed.” I chuckled at her, as I got up and fished out the folder I kept take out menus in.  It came as no surprise to me that she’s sorted them all out, tossing out of date ones and organizing them by the types of cuisine.  I’d always sort of employed the catch of the day method when it came to ordering out.  I’d simply fish one out and whatever it was that was what I’d order. We settled on Thai food and phoned the order in.  We got up off the sofa only to gather up some cutlery, napkins and pour some wine to enjoy while we waited for it to be delivered.  Stretched out listening to music, sipping wine and cuddling we were getting fairly mellowed out by the time dinner arrived.  I got up and retrieved my wallet from the dresser in the bedroom when the doorbell rang, signalling the arrival of our dinner.  She’d offered to grab her purse but I declined citing the way she was dressed or rather not dressed may be more of a distraction than the poor delivery guy could reasonably handle.

Dinner smelled great and we set everything up on the coffee table and sat cross legged on the floor enjoying the delicious meal together off of our make shift dining table.  Clean up was a breeze with popping dishes into the dish washer and tossing a few emptied containers into the trash bin.  Then it was back to settling in on the sofa while we sipped our wine and talked about our plans for putting things to rights in the house. Barclay strolled out to keep us company and was lounging in Lorelei’s lap as we talked.  We both had the next couple of days off with no real plans other than getting things organized.  I was looking forward to it because when we finished it would truly be our place once and for all. The need and desire for sleep over took us once more and soon we were back in our bed. I’m not sure how or where we found the energy but we made love again, only this time it was very slow and gentle.  It was a cathartic release after the past couple of week’s frenzied activities and it was with rapturous smiles on our lips that we drifted off to sleep in one another’s arms.

We both woke up the next day feeling more human than we had in days it seemed. Knowing we didn’t have to rush anywhere or that we had any pressing commitments to attend to seemed to help as well. Early morning love making and a leisurely breakfast with the woman you love also can do wonders for a man.  I felt invigorated and like I could and would take on the world and be triumphant in doing so. After we got dressed we set about tackling the job that lay in front of us.  With a little luck we hoped to get the majority of it if not all of it done today so we could have the holiday Monday to ourselves to do anything we choose to. I set about assembling the furniture that needed to be put together again, and she began unpacking boxes and filling book shelves and the like with her things.  We worked steadily for the most part, but would take a moment here and there to check on each other and see how things were progressing and if either of us needed a hand with anything.

The transformation that was unfolding before our eyes was pretty amazing.  The house was taking on a definite balance of both male and female energies, and I loved the yin and the yang of it all, as it just felt so right to me, like it had always been meant to be this way. When we took a break at lunch time I insisted on making lunch and she laughed when I brought out a tray that contained peanut butter and jam sandwiches along with tall glasses of milk.  We took them outside and had a picnic with our gourmet cuisine.  Now I’d always made a great p.b. and j but with her homemade jam in them they were over the top in the taste department.  We made such a great team and quite literally went together as well as peanut butter and jam did.

Lorelei thanked me for my delicious lunch and I believe I got tipped a heck of a lot better than the delivery guy had last night.  Her kisses and hugs were the best thing in the world to me, and you couldn’t put a price on them. We got back to work, knowing that the sooner we finished the sooner we could just relax together.  By late afternoon things were pretty much picture perfect in our home, and we viewed the surroundings with a sense of deep satisfaction at a job well done as we broke down the last of the cardboard boxes to put out in the recycling bins.  Books and C.D.’s were a dominant presence in the living room, and accented with framed pictures, candles and various little knick knacks.  One of my favourites that she’d artfully displayed on a bookshelf was this rather funky vase that was filled with various coloured sea shells.  She’d told me when I’d first seen them at her apartment that each one had a special meaning to her as she’d collected them on various trips she’d taken over the years, or had found them on what she had considered special outings to the beach and had kept as a memento of the occasion.

There was a beautiful little pink and white scalloped one that she’d found on our first official date, along with a small heart shaped stone that she’d found that night in the vase as well.  She’d told me about it long after the fact how she’d discovered them while we talking on the beach and had unceremoniously tucked them into her purse to mark what she had felt in her heart was going to be a life altering event for the two of us. She’d been almost reluctant to tell me about the collection when I’d inquired about it initially, perhaps fearing I might find her silly and overly sentimental, but in reality it was just one more thing that I found charming about her and endeared her to me.We had even managed to hang her art work without any little spats which I knew that a great many people would have found a miracle.  Everything we added seemed like it just naturally belonged there.

“Happy darling?” she asked me softly as she wrapped her arms around my waist.  “Yes totally and completely happy.” I said as I leaned down and kissed her softly. I was truly happy and only one thing was going to make me happier and that would be the day she became my wife.I knew that now the move was complete, that fact would be in the forefront of my mind pretty much constantly. I didn’t want to take forever to propose to her but I also wanted to put some thought into and make it something she would remember for all time. I believe she would have proposed to me in a heartbeat and I would have accepted but there was also a part of me that was very old school and I wanted to be the one that did the asking. It was an unspoken thing between the two of us that we would be traditional about the proposal in that sense anyways.

The visit to her parents had actually enlightened me in some ways, especially after hearing about what some of her dream weddings had entailed growing up.  Her mother might be horrified to discover one day that she’s actually planted the seeds of the ultimate proposal plan in my head.  I could imagine her mother rolling her eyes when Lorelei related the details of the event to her, and it made me grin hugely at the thought.“What’s that sly grin of yours all about?” she asked me.  “That princess is for me to know and you to find out.” I told her as I kissed the tip of her nose.  She pouted in protest at this news but it was only temporary. “Okay, I’ll trust you to keep your own council on this for the time being.”  She studied my face carefully and I believe she had, had an inkling inside as to what my thoughts had been about.  Graciously she dropped the subject and didn’t pursue it any further for the time being.

We decided to make some dinner together and Barclay true to form was on hand for the event, and to ensure he got his meal as well.  I dazzled her in the kitchen with my cooking prowess proving that I did in fact know my way around the kitchen and I was capable of much more than making just an awesome sandwich.Laughing and chattering as we worked side by side, brushing against her would bring me a small thrill each and every time it happened.  A favourite song would come on and she’d start with her toes tapping in time to the music and before I knew it she’d have me dancing around the kitchen with her.  It was so easy and natural being with her, like it had always been this way.Life as I now knew it was good and it was getting better all the time.

Part 30

Monday morning dawned and once again it was time to get up and face reality.  I had to admit while I used to consider Mondays more often than not a total downer and it always had taken me a while to get into the swing of things that was now a thing of the past.  Now I greeted each day with enthusiasm and relished in the thoughts of what it would have in store for me.  I was well aware of the fact it had everything to do with the woman that I now woke up beside each morning. On those rare occasions that I woke up before she did I loved to watch her still caught up in her dream world.  Her eyes closed peacefully, her nose crinkled and sometimes wiggling like a bunny, and her lips often pursed into a mysterious little smile that just beckoned to me.  I’d often want to trace those lips with my finger tip or kiss them softly and while the urge was great, I didn’t want to risk waking her from her slumber.

I often thought if I could ever learn the art of nipping out of bed stealthily enough so as not to not awaken her I’d love to grab my sketch pad and capture her just as she was laying there.  Not that I had sketched anything for some time now but there was something about her that was rekindling my creative energies and passions with in me.  It was a great feeling to have that spirit of creativity ignited once more and I could think of no better subject than my beloved Lorelei to set it ablaze. If she did awaken to find me sketching her I could hear in my head the protests and arguments she’d initially give me.  Liam what on earth are you doing?   I look a total fright, besides that more importantly you shouldn’t be wasting your time and talents on me as your subject.”  I was certain the list would go on from there as well, and she would consider her protests to be both genuine and valid.

She wasn’t the sort of woman that had a false sense of modesty and wanted to be cajoled and showered with compliments in order for her to give in to something either.  Despite her air of confidence and the inner strength I knew she possessed, there was a vulnerable little girl side to her as well.  She didn’t expose it often but I had discovered her Achilles heel as it were on our first date, and had it confirmed when I took the time to really read the journal she had kept about her thoughts and feelings.  For the life of me I could not fathom how this woman had ever or could ever think she wasn’t worthy of me, that how had she put it, that I was out of her league?   “I’ll give you a penny for your thoughts, Liam.” Her soft voice greeted me.  I’d been so lost in my own thoughts I hadn’t even been aware of the fact that she was now fully awake and gazing at me intently. “What’s on your mind darling? You were certainly immersed in your thoughts whatever they might be.” She added.  She snuggled into me and caressed my chest with her hand as she continued to look into my eyes while she waited patiently for a response.

“I’m thinking about what is always first and foremost on my mind my darling.” I told her as I kissed her affectionately on the tip of her upturned nose.  “That must be your subtle way of telling me that you’re famished and need a hearty breakfast.” She returned as she gave me a quick kiss and began to pull back the covers so she could climb out of bed and start her day the way she always did taking care of me.“Not so fast.” I said as I wrapped her in a warm embrace and kissed her lips softly.  “Now that you mentioned it I am hungry.” “Now that comes as a surprise to me. Not.” She giggled back at me. “What I was thinking about though is how beautiful you are and how much of an inspiration you are to me.  I’m planning on taking up sketching again and I want you to be my subject.” Her protests began quickly just as I had imagined they would.

“Hush woman.” I gently said as I tried to quash them on her lips.  “I wasn’t planning on starting right this minute though I wouldn’t have a problem doing just that if we had the time but right now neither of us has that luxury.  It will ultimately have to be your choice, and you can bet I’ll be hoping that you will.  Right now what I’m hoping for is a proper good morning kiss before we start our day.”  I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her on top of me and our lips melted into a blissful good morning greeting.  Running my hands over the glorious curves of her body as our kisses ignited causing a spontaneous combustion of energy. “Now that’s more like it.” I murmured as I stroked her hair and nibbled on her neck. “Would you behave yourself?”  There was no real conviction in the way she delivered her words, and the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips betrayed her. “My dear, you would like nothing better than for me to ravish you here and now.” I breathed hotly in her ears as my fingers toyed with her nipples and tweaked them.  There was no reason for words, as her soft little moans as I manipulated her taut nubs were the only answer I required from her.

The lovemaking that ensued left us both with a wild rush of endorphins flowing through us.  It also left us scrambling to grab breakfast, and get her off to work on time.  It had all been well worth it though and neither of us was the least harried over having to hustle a little now. While I made the bed, she did her thing in the kitchen, whipping up yet another totally amazing breakfast for me to wolf down.  We really were running behind schedule so I shooed her off to start her shower while I tidied up the kitchen and made sure that Barclay’s food and water dishes were topped up since I wasn’t going to be around the house the better part of the day myself.  As I joined her in the shower for just a quick fix of canoodling with her, I told her I’d drop her off at work to ensure she was on time.  Then I’d head over to the apartment take care of things over there.  We decided once we were ready to go that we’d take the bike, since I didn’t have to bring anything back from the apartment with me.  There was also the added bonus of having her arms wrapped around me for the entire duration of the trip.   It felt great having her moulded to me while we navigated the streets to the bakery.  When we arrived, I parked the bike out front and walked her to the door, where I gave her a bear hug and lingering kiss.

As I got back on the bike she turned and blew me a kiss and a little finger wave with one hand as the other was wrapped around her helmet.  She then disappeared through the door to start her day.  I waved at Mrs. Morelli who was bustling around the front of the bakery setting up for the first customers of the day, she returned my greeting and with that I was off. Mrs. Silverton was out in the front gardens when I pulled up and parked.  She waved and greeted me warmly and we had a nice little chat.  I checked to see if there was anything she needed done before I got started in the apartment but she politely declined.  She also informed me that my friends had been in touch with her and they had dropped by so she could show them the place.  They’d fallen in love with the place on the spot and were eager to move in.  I was delighted of course and told her so, as well as the fact that with my friends living there I was certain she’d be seeing a fair bit of Lorelei two and she might even begin to wonder if we’d moved out. This elicited a chuckle out of her. I bade her farewell and headed up the stairs to get started.

First I took a walk around the apartment checking out rooms and seeing what things I could disassemble.  I also had a role of tape here at the apartment so I could tape the doors and empty drawers in furniture shut to avoid them swinging open or falling out while we carried them down the stairs and loaded them.  I’d also put any screws or bolts from the things I took apart and place them in baggies, label them with a magic marker and tape them inside the drawers as well so I’d no exactly where they were when it came time to put them back together again at the house.  Over the years you learn to simplify moving as much as humanly possible. The place looked entirely differently to me now of course.  Bookshelves that now were devoid of books took on the appearance of gap toothed grins, there were no more brightly coloured plants flowering and blooming around the rooms.  It was a far more subdued atmosphere here now and that saddened me just a little to see this way, as with Lorelei in it, it had always brimmed with such life and energy.  It would be filled with energy and a life force once more when my friends moved in.

Working steadily with no distractions from a certain woman that always wanted me to dance with her to a favourite tune, try a new recipe for her or simply distract me by looking so desirable I was able to accomplish a great many things.  I was nearly done when I heard a rapping at the door.  “Hi. Mrs. Silverton.” I greeted her. “Come on in. Is there something I can do for you?”  “Oh no dear, I’m fine thank you.  I just thought you might have worked up an appetite so I brought you up a little something to tide you over.  I’ve been baking and it’s always such a comfort to have a little something warm from the oven.  I hope you like milk as well.”  I was touched by her thoughtfulness and told her as much.  She declined my offer to come in and join me as she was heading off to meet one of her grandchildren for lunch.  “Just leave the dishes on the table in the entry way when you leave Liam.” She reminded me before toddling off.

“She’s such an old dear.” I thought as I sat on the sofa munching warm cookies and drinking cold milk.   We’d have to have her over to our place as a guest in the very near future and try to return many of her kindnesses towards both Lorelei and myself.Getting back to work after my delightful little snack lost its appeal to me and I could have cheerfully stretched out on the sofa and had a little siesta, but I did the responsible thing and got back to work. I finished it “in jig time” as my Gran would say. After taking one final look around the place to make sure that I hadn’t left any tasks undone that I could manage on my own, I prepared to take my leave once I was satisfied.  I picked up my dishes and balancing the now empty glass on the plate locked the door behind me and headed down the flights of stairs.  I left the dishes on the entry way table as requested and then slipped out of the silent house and locking the door behind me.

It was a beautiful day out and I was happy to be on the bike.  It was always such a rush for me to be out cruising on it and the experience was even better for me now when I got to share it with a certain lady I knew.  I grinned as I thought of her smiling face.  Throughout my day no matter how hectic it got or what I was doing my thoughts would often turn to Lorelei, just as I was certain her thoughts would turn to me during her day. As I cruised back to the house I reflected on just what a lucky guy I was to have, her in my life.  Her exuberant energy and joy of life was contagious and you found yourself caught up in it and swept along.  She was never going to be one of those people that sat on the sidelines and just watched life parade by them.  Nope not her, she’d be more likely to be out there leading the whole parade, after organizing it to begin with. Even coming home was better with her in my life I reflected as I opened the door and Barclay bound out to greet me with a happy meow and flung himself into my arms.  “Hey there, big guy.” I said to him as I gave him an affectionate cuddle and carried him into the living room with me, after I slipped off my shoes.  I sat down on the sofa, to unwind for a bit and Barclay decided to take advantage and get some attention while I did.

As I sat idly stroking Barclay, which he rewarded me for with throaty purrs of contentment, I planned out the rest of my day in my mind and how it would play out. I was really hoping to finish the renovations in the basement this week which would more than likely entail enlisting the services of my brother and brother in law as dry walling was doable on your own but went a lot faster with a couple extra pairs of hands, and the same went for installing ceiling tiles as well.  Today though I knew I could easily work on and finish the project I had in mind for my little furry friend Barclay.  First though I was going to grab a quick lunch. Barclay was more than happy to join me as I dined, and smacked his little chops over the morsels of my lunch that I shared with him.  He rubbed against my ankles as I tidied up in the kitchen when we were done eating.  I rubbed my hands together in anticipation of my next project and got down to business.

By the time I was done I had not one but two rather elaborately designed kitty scratching post/play centres made.  One was for indoors and the carpeting I had attached to it still needed to dry.  The other was an outdoor model on the back deck which also was fenced in and had its own entry through a kitty door I’d made for just that purpose through the house.  I was pretty impressed with them, when all was said and done. Both had multiple tiers to them with landings on them for napping or just surveying the lay of the land.  There were also a couple of cubby spaces that he could curl up in for either protection from the elements or covert surveillance operations of birds and squirrels.  The kitty version of a man cave I thought and chuckled over it. I glanced at my watch and realized I had just enough time to grab a quick shower and change clothes before I headed off to pick up Lorelei from work. I was eager to be reunited with her again and I whistled a happy little tune as I freshened up. It was such a beautiful day and she always had such fun when we took the bike out, and besides she still had her helmet with her so once again I chose to take the bike out.

I was already to go when Liam pulled up in front of the bakery.  It seemed like ages since I’d last seen him and I spontaneously broke into a broad grin the moment I lay eyes on him. More than anything I just wanted to feel his arms around me.  My wish came true as he greeted me with open arms and I gladly lost myself in his embrace.  “I missed you sweetheart.” He crooned in my ear as he held me close.  “I missed you too.” I responded to him in kind. It was with light hearts that we sped home.  The noise of the engine and the wind made talking virtually impossible with the exception of a couple quick exchanges at stop lights and stop signs, but with my body pressed against Liam’s nothing else mattered to me, because I was exactly where I wanted to be with him. When we got home I was tickled pink when I discovered the new entertainment centres for Barclay, who was perched on the uppermost tier of his outdoor kitty condo taking advantage of the view and soaking up the late afternoon sun in the great outdoors.  Liam and I grabbed a couple of glasses of iced tea and joined him out on the deck.

It was great to just unwind and spend some time together unwinding and hearing how his day had gone.  I was utterly amazed that he had been able to get so much done in one day, and he got a playful ml swat when he insinuated that he’d been able to manage it  because I hadn’t been there trying to distract him with my womanly wilds.  He also mentioned his plans to get his family on board to help with the renovations in the basement so we’d have more finished spaces to utilize when all my furniture arrived at the house.  Not surprisingly he had everything under control. We also talked about doing a grocery run later this evening so we’d be well stocked for the food prep I’d be doing, and then just taking the rest of the night and enjoying ourselves.  Tomorrow would be another day and we could dig our heels in and get back to business then.  So after a leisurely dinner together we were off and running.

The next few days passed in a whirlwind of activities for the two of us and each night we dropped into bed totally exhausted but elated.  One thing that remained constant no matter how tired we got, was making time for each other especially the intimate times.  If it hadn’t been for those releases of energies I’m not sure either one of us would have survived the pace that we’d set for ourselves. There was a good deal of good natured teasing that went on between us as well which helped to defuse any potential frustrations that may have arisen otherwise with all that was going on.  I teased him about the splatters of speckle on his face and he in turn would tease me about a smudges of flour on my cheeks.  It was great having other people over as well, his brother and brother in law were pretty cool guys and also shared our humour for the most part, other times they just rolled their eyes, shrugged and said that the two us were perfect for each other. Liam also got to know a couple of my friends as well, when Matt and Skye joined me in the kitchen for a couple of nights as well to help with the food preparations. Everything was going great and we were both eagerly anticipating Saturday morning.

Friday night we were both a bit concerned that the forecasted rain for Saturday would put a bit of a damper on things, but when we woke up on Saturday morning it was bright and sunny and not a rain cloud to be seen.  We were both up earlier than we normally would have been because I wanted to get things ready to take over to the apartment and also to make sure that we’d be there to let people in.  We’d checked in with people the previous evening and thankfully nobody had had to bail on us, which meant we should be finished the move in no time flat and we’d could all relax and just hang out together and celebrate. Certain activities were pretty rushed but none the less both of us enjoyed our little shower rendezvous.  We were dressed and ready to go in record time and had the car loaded with everything we should need for the move and to give everyone ample snacks to keep them energized.  The Morelli’s even though they couldn’t be there to actively help us wanted to be a part of it and had graciously sent several items to help us feed our moving crew.

We thankfully arrived before anyone else did and Mrs. Silverton loaned us a couple of folding card tables to set everything up on.  Liam teased me about the formality I set the table with, but years in the hospitality trade were a hard habit to break and I had the need to make it look eye appealing. People began arriving and some were more morning people than others, they were the ones that headed directly for the coffee urn and began fortifying themselves with steaming cups of hot java.  The assorted muffins and Danishes were also a pick hit with the crowd.  Then it was time to roll up our sleeves and get down to business.  Liam organized everyone and all of them trooped upstairs after him, but not before I gave him a quick hug and kiss.  With everyone else occupied, Matt, Skye and I tided up coffee cups, and abandoned napkins. The coffee urn was also refilled, platters of cookies and squares carefully covered in plastic wrap were laid out on the table when they were ready to take a coffee break.

The three of us were going to head back to the house to finish off some things and set up for when they finished.  We’d also give them a hand with the unloading.  We were taking Liam’s car back to the house.  Matt rode shot gun so he had more room to stretch his legs and Skye too the back seat. I’m actually a great driver but I’ve also a got a bit of a lead foot at times.  When we reached the house, Matt couldn’t restrain himself from asking if Liam knew he was planning on marrying a speed demon. The three of us worked like a well-oiled machine.  We planned on serving things buffet style and would set everything up in the yard.  We set up the tables we’d borrowed and we’d covered the extra seating we’d need by asking people to bring their lawn chairs with them.  We tossed colourful checkered table clothes over the tables and put the chafing dishes on them to hold them down in case of any breezes

One of the great things about working in hospitality for some many years was between the three of us we either already owned our own things like chafing dishes or we had easy access to them and could borrow them as the need arose.  It was great for keeping costs down when entertaining a crowd. Stacks of plates and baskets with cutlery wrapped in napkins were placed where we wanted the line for food service to begin.  We had a separate table for beverages and on that we placed metal buckets that we’d fill with ice and fill with beer, wine coolers and the like a bit later.  There would of course also be options like iced tea, lemonade, sodas and bottled water as well for the kids and those that didn’t care to have anything alcoholic. We also made sure we had dessert plates, extra napkins and serving tongs and room for the platters on the dessert table.  Everything was coming together and it totally looked amazing, we even had some potted plants to use as décor and complete the casual look we were going for.

Checking the time I made a phone call to Liam who informed us they were nearly done loading everything and should be arriving at the house with in the next 45 minutes or so.  Definitely time to kick things into high gear, for Matt, Skye and I. The oven was preheated and waiting dishes were slid into it to heat through.  Platters were arranged and garnished.  Desserts were set up on trays, buckets were filled with ice and bottles of beer and coolers were buried in them so they’d be well chilled for our hungry crew of workers. I heard the front door open and Liam’s voice ringing out “Honey I’m home.  Better grab Barclay and sequester him in the bedroom so he doesn’t accidently get stepped on or freak out and take off with everyone roaming in and out.”  I hunted Barclay out and scooped him up, on my way to the bedroom I ran into Liam and we exchanged a hurried kiss.  “You two are just the cutest things ever.” I heard someone call out, and I blushed crimson for some reason.

With Barclay whisked away to safety the madness began in earnest.  Liam had had the forethought to place labels with masking tape on various pieces of furniture so that the process of where to put things was greatly streamlined.  Matt ensuring that Skye and I were in good shape went to help cart the furniture and other belongings of mine into the house.  The timing was impeccable as Skye and I got the last items ferried out to the table just as people started coming out to the back deck. Liam came over and wrapped his arm around me and pulled me close.  He cleared his throat.  “If I could have your attention for just one minute please ladies and gentleman, and in some cases I use that term loosely guys.” He said which earned him a round of good natured chuckles and guffaws from our friends.   It was kind of ironic but in the short time I had known these people I truly did consider them not just Liam’s friends but ours.  “Lorelei and I just want you all to know how much we appreciate all of you giving up your day to help us out like this.  We really do appreciate it more than mere words can express.  So in order to show just a little appreciate for all of you, Matt, Skye and Lorelei have made us this amazing feast to enjoy.  So everyone please just help yourselves and grab a drink. Just make yourselves at home.”  There was a crest of approvals in expressed in various manners and the party kicked into gear.  Plates were heaped with food, bottles were popped open.  I slipped inside and put some music on in order to add to the festive atmosphere.

Liam slipped in quietly and put his arms around me and nuzzled my neck.  “You and your friends are amazing pulling this meal off the way you did and all those great snacks earlier.  People were totally blown away by all the effort you’ve put into taking care of everyone.” He said. “It’s nothing really, just something I do is all.” I said turning around to face him and wrap my arms around him, all the better to draw him into a kiss.  The kisses were warm and tender, with just enough tongue action to keep them sensual and a bit naughty with so many people around.  “You must be exhausted.” I said as I lovingly stroked his face and ran my fingers through his hair.  “Yeah I am, but it’s so totally worth it to have you finally moved in, lock, stock and barrel.  I could cheerfully just curl up with you in my arms and take a nap, but right now we’ve got a backyard full of guests and we’ve got to do the whole host with the most routine.”  He gave me a tight little hug and another kiss.

“I agree.  You must also be starving yourself so let me get you a plate and a cold beer and get you settled while I check on things.  We’ll have a more private celebration for two later when everyone else leaves.” I said as I gave him a sly little wink and cupped my hand over a certain area in his jeans, which responded with a twitch. “You’re a naughty girl, but I like the way you think and I think I could find the energy to celebrate with you later.” He grinned at me and gave me another kiss before we headed back to our guests. Everything was in full swing as I got Liam and I plates and circulated amongst our guests.  Thanking them each personally for all that they’d done and trying to ensure everyone was getting enough to eat and drink. People seemed to be enjoying themselves and the laughter and chatter had a cheerful little buzz to it.  All good things must come to an end though and finally people began to gather up their lawn chairs, children and any other belongings they had with them and make their way home. There where hugs and handshakes galore, as well as chorus of thanks for the great meal, and promises to give us a great house warming when we were finally settled in totally.

Matt and Skye helped us carry everything back into the house and packed up the things they’d brought along with them to make this whole thing a success.  They offered to stay and help finish the cleanup, but Liam and I shooed them off, thanking them profusely for their kind offer.  More than anything we just wanted to relax and unwind together in our own home. All things considered it didn’t take us that long to finish the job.  We’d freed Barclay from the bedroom and he was now outside on his kitty perch chattering away like a mad man at some rather frisky squirrels that had arrived in the yard.  Liam and I just collapsed on the sofa together.  He draped his arm over my shoulder.  “Well we did it, it took a lot of help but we did it.”  He said surveying the boxes and furniture that still needed to be sorted out.  I snuggled into him “Yes, we did.  There’s still a fair bit to do but right now I just don’t have the energy.  Besides tomorrow is another day.” I added cheerfully.

“The rest of today is just about us.  I am ignoring all texts, phone calls, e-mails and any other form of communication from anyone other than you.”  “I’m happy to hear I made the short list.” I teased him with a slight elbow to the ribs.  He just laughed and pulled me closer.  We sat nestled together far too tired to even talk and so we merely revelled in the fact I was finally home to stay. Eventually I did find my second wind and decided Liam needed a little extra tender loving care for all of his efforts.  “Where are you off to?” he asked when I stood up.  I think he was more amazed that I had the energy to move than anything. I leaned over and kissed him on the nose.  “I’m going to run you a hot bath to soak in to help you relax and unwind.  Then if you’re up to it, I might just see my way clear to joining you in it.”  I grinned at him.  “Hmmmmmmmm a hot soak in the top sounds wonderful, and I think I might find the need for the pleasure of your company as well.” He said as his eyes shined at the prospect of the company part.
